Moorestown roller bladers raise $2,600 during 53-mile skate to the beach

Chaz Briggs and Tyler Woyshner decided to roller blade to the beach last summer and took the trip one step further this summer by doing it for a cause. Naming the event Shore for a Cure, they enlisted a few more skaters and retraced their steps to Long Beach Island on July 18. The skate raised more than $2,600 for Livestrong and Camp No Worries. National Veterans Wheelchair Games come to Moorestown August 13

The 34th National Veterans Wheelchair Games will be coming to Moorestown on Wednesday, August 13 and Saturday, August 16. The Moorestown High School is very excited to be hosting these games and we are expecting 800 to 1,000 people to volunteer, attend and participate in these games.

Moorestown Council looks into possible solar field

After Kathy Ward presented the findings of Sustainable Moorestown at the July 7 meeting, the council discussed the possible next course of action at the July 21 meeting. Despite some opposing opinions, the council agreed to bring in Maser Consulting P.A. to create a proposal for a study into solar energy in town.

Peach Festival comes to Moorestown in August

Fresh peaches, homemade baked goods and ice cream will be featured at the annual Peach Festival on August 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Moorestown. Activities for children include a moon bounce, peach cotton candy, face painting and animal balloon making. Music will be provided by the FUMC Gospel Band.

Dana Guglielmo breaks Guinness World Record for ‘joggling’

Joggling, a combination of running and juggling, may not be a household sport, but on April 6, Moorestown resident Dana Guglielmo broke the Guinness World Record for 5K Joggling. Guglielmo is now planning to attempt to break the 10K and marathon joggling record. She will also be running for the Arthritis National Research Foundation.

Burlington County Police Departments now equipped with Narcan

Police departments in Burlington County are now equipped with an antidote that can be used to reverse heroin overdoses. Kits containing Narcan, the aerosol form of the drug Naloxone, has been distributed to 30 municipal police departments as well as the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. More than 60 officers were trained to administer the antidote.
